Fruit Jam Face Detection
Is someone here? This project can let you know! You can use a Fruit Jam running CircuitPython with a USB webcam to run a local front face detection model from OpenCV and output the camera feed over DVI, When a face is detected, a green box is drawn around the face. This is a great way to add person detection to projects, like a video doorbell, without connecting to The Cloud™️since this runs 100% locally and offline.
Fruit Jam Motion Tracking Eyeballs
Do you ever feel like someone or something is watching you? In the case of this project, it is! You can use a Fruit Jam running CircuitPython with a USB webcam to display monster eyes that gaze in the direction of motion captured by the webcam. The CircuitPython code utilizes Turbo helper modules to speed up tasks like drawing the monster eyes and checking for new motion in the camera frames.
Pepper's Ghost Monster Eye
Use a 2.1in round TFT display, Qualia ESP32-S3 and snow globe to create a peppers ghost floating eye!
CircuitPython Turbo Sushi Conveyor Belt
Back when the Qualia S3 was first released I wanted to run the sushi conveyer belt animation on one of the long bar displays. I tried the project in CircuitPython, but it was way too slow so I had to use Arduino with PlatformIO. Much like Jiro, I never stopped dreaming of sushi and hoped to one day revisit the project and have it run in CircuitPython. With Turbo, that day has finally come.
Adafruit TCS3448 14-Channel Light / Color Sensor Breakout
The Adafruit TCS3448 (a.k.a. TCS34488) Multi-Spectral Sensor is a multi-channel spectrometer, which is a special type of light sensor that is able to detect not only the amount of light present but also the amounts of light within different wavelengths. This means that you can use it to detect much better than the human eye is capable of, what color or colors of light is present.
Adafruit TSL2585 Digital UVA and Ambient Light Sensor
The Adafruit TSL2585 Digital UVA and Ambient Light Sensor is a great "three-in-one" light sensor that has ambient light sensing, Infrared channel and UVA (315nm-400nm). In particular it's not that common to get UVA narrow-band sensing on an I2C sensor, so this is great for outdoor light monitoring. It can also be used to measure curing lights, blacklights and reptile lamps!
Adafruit TMF8806 Time of Flight Distance Sensor
The Adafruit TMF8806 Time of Flight Sensor is a great Time of Flight distance sensor from ams Osram in the TMF series of chips. The TMF8806 in particular can do 20mm to 5 meters at up to 30 Hz update rate, and a dedicated low-power 200mm mode. It also has a wider field-of-view. The sensor contains a very tiny invisible laser source and a matching sensor.
Franky Candy Dispenser
Build a Frankenstein monster inspired candy dispenser with 3D printed parts and CircuitPython.
Adafruit TMF8801 Time of Flight Distance Sensor
The Adafruit TMF8801 Time of Flight Sensor is a great Time of Flight distance sensor from ams Osram in the TMF series of chips. The TMF8801 in particular can do 20mm to 2.5 meters at 33 Hz update rate. The sensor contains a very tiny invisible laser source and a matching sensor. Unlike sonars that bounce ultrasonic waves, the 'cone' of sensing is very narrow. Unlike IR distance sensors that try to measure the amount of light bounced, the TMF is much more precise and doesn't have linearity problems or 'double imaging' where you can't tell if an object is very far or very close.
Adafruit Monster Eyes
The animated eyeballs on the MONSTER M4SK and Hallowing boards are an Adafruit spooky season staple. But, new boards and displays have come into vogue and it was time to revisit this code base. The new version is called Adafruit Monster Eyes, and it lives in its own repository on GitHub. It has support for your favorite board and display combinations, from SPI TFT displays to PicoDVI!
