Build your own light-up TARDIS pendant using a simple LED circuit and 3D printing. Grab your companion and let’s put it together!

For this project you will need:

- 3D printer or access to mail order/community share 3D printing services
- coin cell battery breakout board in [12mm](https://www.adafruit.com/product/1868) or [20mm](https://www.adafruit.com/products/1870) size
- [CR2032](https://www.adafruit.com/product/654) or [CR1220](https://www.adafruit.com/products/380) battery
- white [LED sequins](https://www.adafruit.com/product/1758) or other small LEDs
- [slide switch](https://www.adafruit.com/product/805)
- [soldering supplies](../../../adafruit-guide-excellent-soldering)
- [silicone coated wire](https://www.adafruit.com/products/1970)
- split ring and necklace

## 3D Design Files

## ABS or PLA

You can print the parts in either PLA or ABS. We recommend printing the TARDIS! body part in either white or transparent material. The body STL file is the part that will need to diffuse the LED sequins.

There are two sizes available!

## CR1220

These parts are optimized to fit the CR1220 Coin Cell Breakout. It's about half the size of the CR2032.

## CR2032

This bath was designed to fit the CR2032 Coin Cell Breakout. It's double the size of the CR1220 and has more details in the design.

## Circuit Diagram

Three LED sequins are wired in parallel with all three (+) pads connecting to the (+) power pad on the coin cell battery board.

The ground wire connects all three (-) pads and one terminal of the switch.

The adjacent switch terminal is wired to the ground (-) pad on the coin cell battery board.

## Build It

While your parts are printing, solder a few LED sequins together in parallel using silicone coated wire according to the circuit diagram.

Nestle the sequins in the 3D printed plate-- you can use a nail file to adjust the tolerances for a snug fit.

Use some E6000 glue to stick the sequin plate in place. This stuff takes a little while to dry, but it makes your pendant a lot more durable than plain old hot glue.

Once your illuminated base is complete, you can build on the rest of the TARDIS! Just snap on the translucent box, then carefully glue on the outer walls and top.Once your illuminated base is complete, you can build on the rest of the TARDIS! You can clean up excess glue with rubbing alcohol.

Use painter's tape to clamp the pieces in place while they dry, and place on a flat surface.

After the walls are dry enough not to slide around (45 min), you can glue on the top.

Assembly does not require a sonic screwdriver-- a regular phillips head will do just fine to attach the battery holder to the base plate.

## Wear it!

Attach a split ring and necklace to your pendant and wear with pride.

It may be bigger on the inside than on the outside, but if you’re looking for even more space and longer battery life, try making this larger version and use it to adorn your desk or Christmas tree.
