Wire NeoPixel strip to Mini Sparkle Motion
Cut any connector from the NeoPixel strip input end and remove about 2-3mm of insulation.Â
Screw the wires to the Mini Sparkle Motion's terminal block as shown:
- NeoPixel ground wire (black) to Mini Sparkle Motion G
- NeoPixel +V wire (red) to Mini Sparkle Motion 5V
- NeoPixel Data In wire (green) to Mini Sparkle Motion 33

Foam Liner
This is an optional step -- you can cut some thin craft foam and tape it inside the shoe. This will help reduce any rattling of the battery or strand as well as reflect more light up from the bottom of the platform.
Add Adhesive Strips to Battery
Add three adhesive strips to the battery as shown -- one where the battery will contact the bottom of the platform and two along the side that will contact the back wall.
Insert Battery in Shoe
Put the battery into the shoe and press it down and back for ten seconds to allow the adhesive to make a solid connection.
Insert NeoPixel Strand
Holding the USB C cable off to one side, insert the NeoPixel strand into the shoe. Start from the non-Sparkle Motion end.
You can use long tweezers or other tool to help push the strip in, making sure to get coverage on both sides of the battery and the front section of the platform.
Attach Mini Sparkle Motion to Trap Door
Use an adhesive strip to attach the Mini Sparkle Motion to the inside of the shoe's trap door -- making sure that there will be clearance for it when closed.
Plug the USB C cable into the Mini Sparkle Motion to turn it on, unplug it to turn it off. Simple!
Charging
When it's time to charge the battery, unplug the USB C cable from the Mini Sparkle Motion and plug it into a USB C extension cable plugged into a charger. You can see the battery level on the built-in LED indicator.
You're ready to put on a show!
Now repeat this for the second shoe.
