# USB C CC Resistor Fixer Case

Do you have any devices with USB C connections that don't seem to power or work when plugged into a USB C Power Delivery port? Chances are, the designers skimped a few pennies or just forgot to put in [the two 5.1K CC resistors required for C-to-C connections](https://forum.digikey.com/t/simple-way-to-use-usb-type-c-to-get-5v-at-up-to-3a-15w/7016) at 5V. It can drive you batty because some computers care and some don't!
Our 3D printed snap fit case is designed to keep the bare PCB protected. Just place the board onto the bottom half of the case and snap the cover on top!
Info: USB Power Delivery chargers can provide different voltages to devices __if__ they request it -- 5V, 9V, 12V, 15V, 18V, 20V are all possible based on the resistor values on the CC line of the device being charged. But if there are no CC resistors, the device may not request any power at all. The CC Resistor Fixer solves this problem.
That's why we designed the **Adafruit USB Type C CC Resistor Fixer** , a collab between our [sunken USB socket](https://www.adafruit.com/product/6050) and [USB Plug breakout](https://www.adafruit.com/product/5978).
This small PCB assembly fits onto a cable or into the mis-designed port. It passes through the two data pins and the Vbus and Ground power lines, while adding the missing 5.1K resistors on the port side and a power LED.
Note that the USB plug pinout doesn't carry the sideband wires or the high speed pins, so this is good for USB charge/sync but not for high speed or specialty protocols. If you're not sure, then it's very unlikely you need them: those products aren't going to mess up the CC resistors.

### Slice with settings for PLA material
The parts were sliced using BambuStudio using the slice settings below.
- PLA filament 220c extruder
- 0.2 layer height
- 10% gyroid infill
- 200mm/s print speed
- 60c heated bed
# USB C CC Resistor Fixer Case
## Assemble
## Place board
Identify the bottom case and note the "in" and "out" text. Align the USB Plug to the retainer and the "out" text on the case.
Apply a small amount of pressure to press fit the PCB into the bottom case.
## Snap fit case
Place the "in" and "out" text to match the plug and socket on the board. Align the top case to the snap fit nubs on one side of the bottom case. Place one side of the case over the nubs and the then use a small amount of force to join the two halves together.
