# MagTag Case

3D Print your own snap fit enclosure for the MagTag. This features a built-in kickstand that positions your MagTag at the perfect viewing angle.&nbsp;

The case accommodates all of the various ports and components such as the two 3-pin JST connectors, STEMMA QT port, light sensor, reset button, boot 0 button, and USB-C port.

The on/off switch is an additional piece that is bigger in size, making it easier to use. The four front facing buttons also have extra parts that feel great to press and more ergonomic.&nbsp;

The case has enough space to accommodate a 500mAh LiPoly battery for making the MagTag portable. Projects that feature deep sleep may allow the device to run for several days!

## 3D Printed Parts

The main assembly is available in Fusion 360 and STEP file formats. This includes all of the 3D printed parts and electronic components used in the project. Use the main assembly to create any edits, updates, or modifications.&nbsp;

## Slice Settings

The 3D printed parts feature tight tolerances and have been tested using PLA filament using a **Bambu Lab X1C** FDM 3D printer. Standard quality settings were used and be can referenced for your print.

- 0.2mm layer height
- 0.42 line width
- 210C nozzle / 55C bed
- 2 wall loops
- 5 top/bottom shell layers

## Build Volume

The parts require a 3D printer with a minimum build volume of:

- 90mm (X) x 65mm (Y) x 16mm (Z)

## Assembly

## Install Buttons

Hold the top half of the enclosure face side down and place the four buttons into the holes. Then set it aside.

## Install Battery (Optional)

Connect the optional 500mAh lipo battery to the MagTag. Use a piece of double-sided tap or mounting tack to keep the battery adhered to the MagTag's PCB.

## Install MagTag

Get the bottom half of the enclosure and four M3 x 6mm long nylon screws.

Orient the MagTag with the bottom half of the enclosure. Place the MagTag into the bottom with the mounting holes lined up.

## Secure MagTag

Flip the MagTag and bottom part and fasten the M3 screws into the four mounting holes.

## Install Switch

Place the switch into the slot near the MagTag's on/off switch. The actuator of the on/off switch should fit in between the two nubs.

## Join Top and Bottom

Orient the top and bottom half of the enclosure parts so they orient. While holding the switch in place, begin joining the two halves together making sure the four buttons stay in place.

Firmly join the two halves together until they snap fit closed.

## Kickstand

To use the kickstand, locate the notch on the back side. To pop out the stand, fit your fingernail under the ridge of the stand and pull it out.

The stand can be stowed away by snaping it into the back side of the enclosure.
