You can 3D print your own custom add-ons for this coat stand from IKEA.

These playful 3D printed add-ons are inspired by an early 20th-century public domain cartoon.

We think it's a fun blend of practical and whimsical product design that you can make yourself.

The “Alganas” hat and coat stand from IKEA features a simple design that stands up-right and doesn't have to be affixed to the wall.

The powder-coated metal hooks are perfect for press fitting 3D printed parts which actually offer additional space for extra items.

We designed four add-ons that are inspired by elements from that iconic 20th-century public domain cartoon. 

3D Printed Parts

STL files for 3D printing will need to be oriented for print using either FDM or SLS machines.

Parts were built with PLA filament.

Slice with settings for PLA material. 

The parts were sliced using BambuStudio using the slice settings below.

• PLA filament 220c extruder
• 0.24 layer height
• 10% gyroid infill
• 200mm/s print speed
• 60c heated bed

Assemble Glove

The glove icon lines can be glued (to eliminate color bleeding typical with painted 3D prints) and reduce print times from 7 hours to 2 hours. Align each line to the cavities on the glove and adhere with CA glue to attach. 

Press fit icons

The icons are fitted over each metal hook with enough tolerance to rotate to fit different accessories.
