# Fruit Jam OS
## Overview
Fruit Jam OS is a self contained basic operating system, written in CircuitPython, that runs on the Fruit Jam device. Along with the [Fruit Jam Boot Animation](https://learn.adafruit.com/startup-screens/fruit-jam-os), it includes a launcher that you can navigate with USB keyboard or mouse, an editor for viewing and modifying code files, and several built-in apps and games from other Adafruit Learn Guide projects.
It's meant to be a somewhat updated take on the experience provided by the Commodore 64 and other early computer hardware fused with a DIY game console.
