Haiku - So you're thinking, "this is great and all, but it's old and won't ever be updated to run modern things." Well you're in luck, because a group of dedicated developers have been working on a modern and open version since 2001. It's called Haiku and it aims to be binary compatible with BeOS, meaning you can run things that were built for BeOS on Haiku. They released Beta 1 last year and you can get it over at https://www.haiku-os.org/.
